Professor Bodil Rasmussen

Professor Bodil Rasmussen is Chair in Nursing in the partnership with Deakin University and Western Health, Australia. Bodil has been involved in diabetes education for more than 20 years, with 10 of those as the Course Director of Graduate Certificate of Diabetes at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Deakin University. Her program of research investigates the impact of changes during life transitions on self-management and risk management among adults with diabetes and her methodological expertise includes qualitative research methods, especially grounded theory and other interpretative qualitative methodologies, and large survey analysis.

She is an international leader in diabetes nursing research and education and a member of the Scandinavian Translational Research in Chronic Conditions (SCAN-TRICC) Group. She works in partnership with professional national and international diabetes organisations and with world renowned researchers in the field of self-management in chronic illness. Professor Rasmussen also leads numerous projects in self-management of chronic conditions in Denmark.

Bodil is a recipient of numerous awards and honours including a citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, Most Innovative Teaching Award, Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Teaching, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) ‘Commendation for Excellence in Teaching and was recently invited to join the Executive Board of the Australian Diabetes Educator Association as an expert educational consultant.

Bodil’s previous roles include Associate Professor and Course Director, Master of Nursing Practice and Graduate certificate of Diabetes Education.
