World Patient Safety Day

17 September is World Patient Safety Day

World Patient Safety Day is an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO). This day calls for global solidarity in the improvement of patient safety.

This year’s theme is Medication Safety, with the slogan ‘Medication Without Harm’.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has collected exemplary work from health services that showcase quality use of medicines across:

• transitions of care
• polypharmacy
• high-risk medicines.
